Leadership and Peace in South Sudan: The New Archbishop's Perspective

Empowering Community Leaders in South Sudan

Congratulations to our friend and long-time ministry partner, Moses Deng Bol, who was recently appointed as the Internal Archbishop for Northern Bahr El Ghazal in South Sudan. Archbishop Moses has been a champion of Five Talents in South Sudan, and his Diocese of Wau has been active in literacy and financial literacy training as well as establishing savings groups and community banks. Archbishop Moses has also been a strong advocate for education, supporting development at 48 schools as well as St. John's Theological College. He has played a key role in bringing elders from different communities together to build peace across Wau:

"The world that expected so much of us doubts that we can even govern ourselves, doubts that we will ever have peace. What can we do to remove their doubts? This is not easy, it will take hard work. But I think we have the way, Jesus is our way and if we can share this we can show people, not just ordinary people who are fighting but leaders and politicians that there can only be one way that leads to peace and development. . . We can show the way of peaceand promote dialogues that give people peace." - Most Rev. Moses Deng Bol
