Five Talents celebrated its Twentieth Anniversary this week with several gatherings in Northern Virginia. Friends, supporters, partners, staff, and board members attended events at Angelika Theater in Falls Church and at Vienna Presbyterian Church.
I’m proud to have worked closely with Five Talents in South Sudan for the past eleven years and I’m here today to say thank you and to testify to the impact that Five Talents has had and is having on communities in South Sudan.
The multi-media events featured guest speaker Harun Mutuma, a long-time program partner who shared about Five Talents ministry in South Sudan. Video interviews presented testimonies from across Eastern Africa and illustrated the Five Talents model in action. Five Talents Board Chairman, Jim Oakes, reflected on twenty years of service while Vice Chair, Kim Pacala, recognized Five Talents founders and key impact makers over the years.
During the event, Five Talents was presented with a Resolution passed by the Virginia State Assembly. Delegate Mark Keam shared his appreciation for the ministry of Five Talents and the resolution highlighted some of Five Talents accomplishments concluding with the following declaration:
“WHEREAS, thousands of church communities of all denominations have hosted and supported Five Talents programs, and the organization has fulfilled its mission with the generous support of countless volunteers, partners, and donors; now, therefore, be it
