Development Work during Covid-19 Epidemic
When the whole world is suffering, as we are seeing now with the Coronavirus epidemic, what does it mean for those around the world living in extreme poverty?
Communication and healthcare systems are very weak in many of the areas where Five Talents works. So it may be some time before we really know how many cases are present in those countries. But we are grateful that so far, very few cases have been reported in these places where international travel is not common.
Where our partners live in extreme poverty, the work of saving and borrowing and starting extremely small businesses goes on. These endeavors are often the difference between children who are well fed and those who may only get one meal a day.
Economics and Disease
So as the world experiences great uncertainty, sickness, and an economic downturn, we continue to do the work that God has set out for us among the world’s poor. As you are able, please continue to support this important work. And please pray for our international partners and everyone who is being touched by this epidemic. We will be praying for you.
Like the Israelites who were in exile in Babylon when the prophet Isaiah wrote, “I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not forsake them,” we can be bold and sing a new song. We proclaim, as Isaiah did, a new day WILL come.
Until next Monday morning,
Dale Stanton-Hoyle,
Executive Director
