Good Monday morning,
Two years ago we had the privilege of spending time with Five Talents literacy and savings groups in South Sudan. Our driver at the time was a wonderful man named Peter. He was incredibly gifted at navigating difficult roads and terrain, and his friendliness immediately set us at ease.
It is often customary to share gifts when visiting with friends in that part of the world, so my colleagues and I presented water bottles to Peter (as well as to many of our other hosts and partners). We chose water bottles as gifts for a reason, but I didn’t realize how significant their impact would be.
Recently we heard back from Peter who says:
I had suffered typhoid year in and year out until I got this bottle. It’s now two years without being treated for typhoid. Ever since I started using this bottle my stomach complication stopped. This bottle has become part of my daily tools. Even at home I boil my water and put it in here.
What a wonderful testimony and encouragement! Imagine what it would be like to worry every day about something as simple as water that is safe to drink. I am grateful for our partners and friends like Peter who serve with such dedication and grace.
Until next Monday morning,
Dale Stanton-Hoyle,
Executive Director
