Development Associate
Sarah Herndon joined the Five Talents team in March 2019 and is thrilled to be working in the non-profit sector. This has been a long-time goal ever since her television news career gave her the opportunity to share the stories of those impacted by incredible non-profits serving the communities where Sarah worked. She is excited to use her skills to help further the mission of Five Talents.
Sarah comes with a media and communications background. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts and Design and Sports Communication from James Madison University. During her senior year, Sarah caught the news bug while working as a morning production assistant for the ABC affiliate in Harrisonburg and went on to report, produce and anchor at a small station in Winchester where she also met her husband. Two years later, she traded in her high heels for flip flops to report for WINK News in sunny Southwest Florida. When she moved back to the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia a few years later, she made the career shift to marketing. Sarah hasn't totally given up her microphone though as she also teaches group fitness classes several days a week at two local gyms. Prior to joining Five Talents, Sarah was the marketing and promotions coordinator for a family-owned physical therapy practice. There she was in charge of the clinic's print, video and social media marketing campaigns and organized their community workshops. She is grateful for the knowledge, skills and lessons she learned at these various jobs as she has been able to incorporate them into her new role here.
In her spare time, you can find Sarah competing in marathons, hiking and sipping all the dark roast coffee she can find. She and her husband, Mason love being amateur photographers while they explore new cities together, cheering on their JMU Dukes and being 'Auntie Sarah and Uncle Mase' to their seven nieces and nephews! They attend Christ Church Vienna where Sarah sings and plays cajon in the worship band.
